If you've followed my blog this last year, then you know of the death of my father, Gary Riley on March 15, 2021. There were poignant moments leading up to and after his death. Our family continues to be overwhelmed with gratitude for the chance to get him home from that isolated hospital room to pass away in his favorite place surrounded by loved ones.
After the initial tsunami of grief hit and then receded, I was left feeling hollowed out. My typical zest for life was, well, it was nowhere to be found. Some had moved on from Dad's death, so on my worst days I felt like crap but worse? I felt alone. In an effort to make sure no one in my shoes would ever feel isolated and alone in their grief, I posted here, on my blog, and on my Substack.
Curiously, I also revisited the events that led up to my father's passing. The dreams I and others had that, looking back, seem prophetic. I delved into all things spiritual, streaming podcasts about NDEs (Near Death Experiences), hauntings, aliens, the weirder, the better. Soon, I found something that got me up in the mornings, my morning runs listening to supernatural podcasts. It filled me with sparkle and passion.
As I've endeavored to connect with the soul in my meat suit, I ran into obstacles, many of which were internal. A governor in my head whose voice sounded like Dana Carvey's Church Lady persona from SNL days of old, telling me this was good material, that was bad. This was a fast-track to Hell and that was God-sanctioned. I poked at the biopic lens and found my own path to the truth that resonates with my soul.
The end result of this last year is my desire to help others connect with ALL of themselves and others. It sounds strange, doesn't it? But at the very least, it will help you remember your innate power and intelligence. It will offset the noise from the rest of the world that tells us to stay afraid and dependent. It reminds us we are all connected, you and me. There is no us versus them. I'm finding this space is filled with unconditional love and mysteries that deserve to be unlocked and shared.
From keeping dream journals to maintaining your energy to straight talk about death and dying to exploring the glory of nature to many other topics that will leave you hyper aware that there's more to life, much more. I've created a podcast, Curious Cat, to explore the space where science and the supernatural collide. Episodes roll out every Friday. It's available for free wherever you most love to stream content. From Spotify to Apple to Amazon to Google, please give it a listen.

If you find the content has value, please tell a friend or family member to help us grow. If you live in the US and send me a DM on Curious Cat's Twitter or Instagram feeds, then I'll mail you a special decal of the podcast art.
That fabulous art was created by Nora Hotes. Cutting a stamp of the cat face, washing a watercolor sunset/sunrise on luscious paper, they perfectly captured the in between places where the spiritual and physical intersect. I'm grateful.
My audio engineer is a young student who, like Nora Hotes, will one day be someone super famous. We'll be able to smack our gums and say, "Remember when?" His service links are in the show notes as well.
As always, thank you for your love and enthusiasm, especially in the moments when my ego says to delete it all and hide in a dark corner. I am grateful and love you.
